Social Stories
Written by Jill on January 2, 2008 – 11:16 am -Something Kiddo’s social worker wants us to try is writing social stories. They can be helpful for kids that tend to be anxious about new and/or stressful situations. It helps them to understand what is to be expected. I am going to get started on one with Kiddo hopefully next weekend. Since we are moving in a month and this is a source of major anxiety for her, the social worker thought it would be a good idea to try and write a social story. Kiddo is not the least bit interested though but I’m hoping I can gain her interest as I go along with it. The best source on social stories would be Carol Gray.
The Gray Center is also a fantastic resource for Asperger’s Syndrome and other ASDs. They have a selection of books and other materials available for purchase that I wish I had found sooner.

Hello and welcome to AspieMom.com. I am the proud mother of a ten year old daughter who was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in 2006. I love to talk to others who have Aspie children. I feel it is important to learn all we can not only so we can cope as parents but so we can help the kids cope as well.
