The road to a diagnosis

I thought I would spend a little time explaining how we ended up with the diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome. It was a very long road, let me tell you but I will try to keep it to the point.

Kiddo has always been a somewhat difficult child from the day she was born. She was prone to tantrums over the most minor of things and was extremely resistant to change. As she got older and started kindergarten, we started having more and more issues. I think first grade was when it all really surfaced though. The constant chatter, the inability to stay on topic, difficulty in social situations, meltdowns… At the time, her teacher felt that this was age related and she would outgrow it so we really didn’t worry too much.
